We have been very fortunate in the lead up to the 2020 vintage as the Piccadilly Valley subregion escaped damage or smoke taint from the devastating bushfires of the early summer. Low bunch numbers and poor fruit set influenced crop size but the upside, on our vineyard at least, is excellent quality fruit with intense colours and flavours.
Harvest of all three varieties on our Uley vineyard was completed over 4 days between March 16 to 19 and currently, the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay juice is in tank and French oak barriques (each 225 litres) respectively, slowly warming to allow fermentation to get underway. The Pinot ferments are progressing steadily with great colours and flavours showing through. Unfortunately, due to such a small crop, we have not produced a Rosé this year but there are still a few cases left of the 2019 Piccadilly Sunrise Rosé for your enjoyment.
